VIRASAT PUNE- A people’s movement for heritage and culture
Pune derives its character and spirit from the heritage. The legacy you inherit in the form of natural and cultural environment gives you the identity as “Punekars”. Heritage is thus a public issue. It is integral to sustainable urban development. Conserving it is your constitutional right and duty.
Janwani initiated Virasat Pune in 2011 as a collective voice for preserving and promoting what is essential to making Pune the best place to live and work.
Through this movement we bring like-minded people together to imagine, innovate and implement ideas on culture conservation. They include professionals, industrialists, businessmen, scholars, academicians, artists, writers and such other individuals. Our aim is to strengthen and enhance existing efforts in conservation and simultaneously, undertake new initiatives.
To conserve Pune’s rich heritage and culture and improve the tourism prospects in order to generate revenue and diversify employment which shall make heritage conservation a sustainable proposition.
